About

I’m the one with a blue jacket and glasses in the photo↑

Hi there! I’m Malcolm. Not Malcolm in the middle as they always seem to suggest in South America. Just Malcolm.

Fortunately for you, repeating my name multiple times won’t make me appear. That only happens in movies like Beetlejuice and Candyman or if you have a dog called Malcolm.

Anyway, I started this blog many moons ago with the intention of using it as a sort of personal diary of my travels. That was back when roaming the world was still acceptable, and the disapproving faces of environmental activists didn’t appear in your conscience every time you got on a plane.

I figured that wallpapering the digital world with some of my rapidly fading memories would mean they were less likely to get destroyed in a house fire than a paper diary or USB stick.

But it’s also a diary I choose to share with the world. Not because I want to be famous, but because I really miss people when I’m away. And part of me selfishly hopes they miss me too, and might like to see what I’ve been up to.

So if you do know me (sorry about that), and you like an article, please leave a comment to say hi or throw digital tomatoes at my writing performance.

If you don’t know me, and Google or Facebook tricked you into thinking this was a normal travel blog, please also write a comment. You can keep the tomatoes though.

Oh, and before I forget, in case you’re wondering why I called the blog ‘Jellyfish Rock’ and not something like ‘Escape To The Wild’, ‘Adventures Of A Digital Nomad’ or ‘Travels With Malcolm’.

I honestly can’t remember!

I can only assume it was because I was doing some brainstorming with a beer in hand and silliness in mind. I vaguely recall trying to fuse the concepts of facing your fears and dancing with one of my favorite 1980’s TV shows, Fraggle Rock. Or something like that.

The weird thing is, I’m terrified of Jellyfish. So it makes no sense because now I have to think about them every time I write.

On the plus side, it means I can totally change direction since the title has nothing to do with travel, and travelling isn’t cool any more. Good job I’m rubbish at brainstorming.

Enjoy!
